General information

We have around 12 acres of fields at Barbaryball with the lower one running down to the river Thrushell. Guests are welcome to walk over any of the land but need to be mindful of any cattle that are grazing i.e. they tend to be attracted to dogs so it may be best to walk some dogs in empty fields only.

The ground can be wet & muddy in places after rain so Wellington boots are always a good idea. The river Thrushell is generally slow moving with low water but it can become fuller and faster after rain so its always a good idea to accompany children and dogs.

Each barn has a woodburner and these are easy to light using firelighters. Logs are in the basket provided and extra in the large barn but please choose logs that will fit inside the burner (the woodburners are all slightly different in size) as logs that are too big have caused the glass window in the doors to break when the door is closed. If you have young children you need to be careful when using the woodburners as they are extremely hot when lit.

Dog policy

We have four dogs ourselves and welcome you to bring yours but would ask that you let us know how many, age and breed when you arrange the booking. Apple House is carpeted and Tractor Barn has oak flooring so our preference is not to have dogs in there but we will consider on a case by case basis - please ask us. There are kennels near the car park if yours are used to sleeping outside and you are welcome to use these (they can be padlocked at night).

We would rather not have dogs on the furniture and on beds so if you're not confident of containing your dog at night then we'll be happy to lend you a dog crate - our dogs sleep in them and like them!

If your dogs are used to chickens & ducks then you're welcome to leave them off-lead but if you think a chase is likely to ensue then please put a lead on! Needless to say please clean up after your dog.
