Welcome to Devon Country Barns holiday cottages, our five luxury self-catering holiday cottages, are situated in the stunning Devon countryside, near the Devon Cornwall border, within easy reach of Dartmoor along with Devon and Cornwall coastlines. Our exceptional, dog-friendly cottages can sleep up to six guests, each with their own hot tub and private garden. DCB offers a fantastic hideaway for all and is a great base for walking in spectacular countryside or visiting picturesque seaside towns & beaches.
The charming Thrushell valley is home to Devon Country Barns five exceptional luxury self-catering holiday cottages. Awarded with a four and five star Gold quality rating by the national tourism agency, Visit Britain, the cottages are tucked away in 12 acres of vibrant green pasture and the luxurious self-catering accommodation enjoys unspoilt views across the river Thrushell. Access to this rural peace is simple by road, rail or air and the barns are open all year round.
All five luxury Barns are furnished to an exceptional standard with many quirky individual touches that will help make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. They have been converted using traditional building materials such as lime plaster, oak lintels and slate floor tiles but at the same time provide exceptional levels of comfort with underfloor heating throughout, woodburners in each barn, kitchens equipped with the most modern appliances and wall mounted flatscreen home cinema systems. All of our barns now have their own private hot tubs.
Set on the edge of the apple orchard with views down the Thrushell Valley, Orchard Barn’s open-plan luxury accommodation, with hot-tub and cosy woodburner, provides an ideal getaway for couples all year round.
Recently converted, Meadow Barn’s 5* Gold luxury is a spacious retreat for two to relax and unwind in split-level accommodation, including king sized bed and Victorian styled bathroom. Enjoy cosy evenings around the patio woodburner!
Cow Barn’s luxury accommodation includes spacious open plan living downstairs and 2 bedrooms, sleeping 4 upstairs. It has a large, private garden – plenty of room for dogs and to enjoy the afternoon and evening sun from your private hot tub!
Apple House is a spacious double-barn conversion with traditional features and luxury fittings. Its private patio with hot tub and direct access to surrounding fields, make Apple ideal for a family of 4 or two couples who enjoy outdoor living.
Enjoy all the extra touches you would expect from 5* Gold luxury accommodation! Attractive “upside down” design, with open plan living upstairs and sleeping 6 in three bedrooms – complete with private garden and hot tub!
We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Cow Barn. Plenty of room for the 4 of us, plus 2 dogs. Super clean barn and lovely added extras! The hot tub was also an event added extra. Thank you so much!

An all too brief weekend in the Southwest
The Cow Barn was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The peaceful setting was perfect, yet close enough to nearby amenities. And the thoughtful touches from Sylvia made us feel very welcome. We had a lovely stay and would definitely return.

Heaven
Lovely welcome with fresher than fresh eggs, flowers, wine and home made cake with everything you could want or need at the barn for a wonderful two week stay. Outside space a bonus with enclosed garden, immaculately kept hot tub and bbq area, with our dog loving launching herself into what felt like our private river as often as she could. Sylvia and her family were so lovely too and helped make our stay amazing.

Exceptional Stay at The Cow Barn, Devon Barns
We had a wonderful stay at The Cow Barn at Devon Barns and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful getaway.The cottage itself is located in a beautiful, exceptionally tranquil setting. Inside, it was clean, very comfortable, and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay.The owner was very pleasant and helpful throughout—answering any questions promptly and appropriately while fully respecting our privacy. For local excursions, there are lovely walks straight into nearby Lifton plus Lydford Forge and Forest are only a 15 minute drive away. We particularly enjoyed visiting The Fox and Grapes pub, which serves great pub grub alongside fantastic homemade vegetarian options.Two quick tips for future guests: bring some warm nightwear as it can get a bit chilly at night, and note that there wasn’t a physical information pack giving details about the cottage, grounds, or local area.Overall, it was a delightful experience and we would love to return!
