On arrival there was a lovely welcome of a cake, fresh flowers, home made apple juice and treats for our dog. This set the tone for a comfortable stay in the beautifully decorated barn, We could have spent the whole time enjoying the luxury of the hot tub, log burner and free standing bath but the beautiful Dartmoor and surrounding countryside needed exploring too . Sylvia was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble and it was clearly important to her that we had the best time. We did.

Romantic getawayStayed November 2023

Lovely barn and lots of thought gone into getting it ready for Christmas as in beautiful decorated tree, a bottle of champagne, homemade cake, milk in the fridge and eggs from their own hens. Lovely and warm due to underfloor heating and log burner.
Very comfy bed and great pillows. The barns are set in beautiful countryside and surrounding fields were great for walking my Labrador Leo, albeit rather wet one’s as the storms were going on over Christmas !. Sylvia has made it a magical place.

Beautiful setting and great hostsStayed December 2023

We stayed in Orchard Barn for our annual Christmas getaway. The barn is so cosy and the perfect place to unwind. It has everything we need and more with delicious homemade cake on arrival. Our dog loves it here with the river to swim in and fields to explore. We have stayed multiple times and the experience never lessens and each time we appreciate the barn and setting even more. Our Christmas would not be complete without a visit here.

Christmas escapeStayed December 2024

Honestly, the most beautiful place! We’ve been coming here yearly for the last 5 years, in memory of my mother. Sylvia, is lovely, so friendly and chatty, she remembers the little things. A home away from home. Just perfect!

Just perfect!Stayed November 2023

What’s not to like? The entertainment of the ‘mole patrol’ and the ‘chicken dinners’ (who were always on the look out for a little something to tide them over between meals), the peace and quiet of the beautiful Devon countryside, the comfort, the endless supply of eggs, the very drinkable white wine, the lovely flowers or the very warm welcome. They all contributed in their own way to a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and we hope to be back.

Devon Country Barns – what’s not to like?Stayed August 2024

We stayed in cow barn in September 2024.
The barn was easy to find, great quiet location.
Clean, comfortable and with everything you need.
The outside space was perfect with a dining area, barbecue and hot tub.
The wider farm is open to guests there is a short walk down to the river with picnic benches and space for children to play..

Short BreakStayed September 2024

You are greeted with wine, yummy cake and lovely flowers, milk and eggs! What more could you ask. Very clean! You wouldn’t know anyone had been there let alone just left!
Sylvia was exceptionally patient (trouble with TV! Totally my fault) and friendly. Nothing too much trouble.
It is a long time since I stayed in Cow Barn and if anything it has all improved!
Lovely walks around the Barns with a stream at the bottom of the nearest field much to Humphrey’s delight! Cannot add anything more – PERFECT in every way!

Humphrey’s HolidayStayed December 2024

Honestly couldn’t want for a better home from home. Tractor barn is warm, cosy, clean, well furnished and equipped and in an ideal position to explore Devon and Cornwall. Sylvia was a wonderful host, meeting us on arrival and showing us how everything worked and where everything was. She had left a welcome pack of local wine, eggs from her own chickens, home-baked cake (which was delicious!), milk, tea, coffee, and treats for the dog! We also got to sample her home pressed apple juice which was lovely.

Despite not having the best weather, we still had a fabulous week. Visit recommendations include Tintagel Castle, White Lady Waterfall and Devil’s Cauldron and the Eden Project. Also wanted to give a particular recommendation for families to visit Hidden Valley Puzzle Park (20 mins away) which was a brilliant day out for adults and children alike. We also had a fabulous meal at the Springer Spaniel in Launceston.

Could’nt be betterStayed March 2024

Returned for a 4th visit to DCB for a 40th birthday, this time with the in laws and tractor barn provided plenty of room for the 6 of us.
Once again all the little details have been thought of, you only need to arrive with your bags (and food if you didn’t fancy the farm shop down 2 mins down the road)
Perfect rural location with such well maintained grounds and barns. We love it and the only downside is that the dog got rather upset when it was time to leave!

back for a 40th birthdayStayed June 2024

First stay in Tractor Barn! Even though we have stayed in other.barns on site we chose the tractor barn as it sleeps upto 6 people and we had family staying with us, this barn is amazing ( as are all the barns ) the layout give maximum room and also privacy we were 5 adults and never felt like we were cramped or ontop of each other.
The setting is so secluded and relaxing, I believe you wouldn’t find this anywhere else.
Sylvia and Christian the owners are so friendly and helpful, will give a full rundown on your chosen barn and will always pop down if asked, don’t think you could ever ask for a more friendly helpful host.
Would i visit again! Definitely without doubt, and can’t wait for next year for our next stay.

Thank you Sylvia
